Twenty Six Years of Smoking...(Chantix Day 7)
I changed my quit date to July 3rd...or 4th, ya know Independence Day!
Ok, so I'm not ready, and that's all right.
The only place I seem to finish a cig, is right here at "my lover", while I'm writing or surfing.
Otherwise I can't smoke a whole short. Crazy that my "Trigger" is "My Lover"
The rain isn't helping.
Forty days and forty nights in the bible belt...Oh yeah.

should I use Chantix or wait for Niccine ?
Niccine: a new approach to quit smoking This is a different approach to the quit smoking problem similiar to by the drug maker Pfizer's Chantix
Swedish anti-nicotine vaccine to be tested in Nordic countries "A Swedish vaccine against nicotine will be tested on 400 people in three Nordic countries," Heavy smokers who would like to quit, will get counselling along with the new drug, initial test will run for 4 months.
Niccine is supposed to help the immune system build antibodies against nicotine. Interesting approach to the problem: Niccine will latch onto the incoming nicotine and preventing it from reaching the brain's reward system, thereby preventing the smoker from getting that addictive smoking "kick" or hit.
Niccine, has been developed over the course of 10 years by Swedish researchers at the Karolinska Institute, under the guidance of professor Torgny Svensson who founded Independent Pharmaceutica. This is a different approach to the quit smoking problem used by Pfizer's Chantix.

My quit day is July 4th as well! let's try it together! I know how you must feel, you've been smoking since before I was born. Its a part of who you are, not just something that you do. I have felt the same exact way for a long time, which is why I never seriously tried to quit. But you have been working so hard, you just have to be as strong for youself as you have been for your son :) Let's celebrate our independence day from Nicotine this wednesday!

We'll be doing an "Evan Almighty" soon, building an ark and gathering the animals two by two.

I'm on day 54 on Chantix. I quit on day 8. It sure hasn't been easy, and I've been tempted many times, but I've been successful so far. All of this while going through a divorce!! My daughter is what keeps me going, she's so proud of me! I chew a lot of sugarless gum, it really helps. Side effects have been minimal with me, only one I've noticed is much more vivid dreaming. I even dream I'm smoking, then realize I'm quitting and I stomp it out!! Anyway, thought you'd appreciate a point of view from further down the road. This stuff does make quitting easier; we'll see where I am when I go off the medicine in a few weeks. Keep it up, there's nothing but good to come from it!

That's right around when I quit, Day 13 on Chantix because I just wasn't quite ready until that date. I was sneaky/chicken and gave myself until the 15th day right from the start, and I'm glad I did. Once I was on the full dose longer I think I was pretty much as ready as I was ever going to be. I'm excited for you, and you know I'll be checking back to see how it's going.
